The US Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) has today has picked the 2010 Hyundai Sonata as the best in the “Safest” category. Other winners in the past that got picked by the IIHS were the Chevrolet Malibu, Volkswagen Jetta, and Chyrsler Sebring.
The 2010 Hyundai Sonata comes with either a 4-cylinder or V-6 engine. The 2.4-liter puts out about 175-horsepower and comes with with a five-speed manual or a five-speed automatic. While the 3.3 L V-6 puts out about 249-hp. Fuel economy ranges from 21/31 mpg for the four-banger and up to 19/28 mpg with the V6.
