GM has just announced the recall of the 2013 Chevy Malibu Eco due to potential unintended airbag deployment. A potential sensor failure could cause the roof airbag to deploy unintended, which can cause an accident or injury to the driver or passengers.

The particular airbag sensor may falsely sense a rollover during a hard braking follows by an abrupt turn condition; this triggers the deployment of the roof airbag, additionally, the seat belt pretensioners could fail during a major crash.

The affected vehicles of the 2013 Chevy Malibu Eco are built from October 24, 2011 to March 31, 2012, which covers about 4,304 units.   Owners of affected vehicles can bring their cars to any GM dealerships for a free repair, which consists of reprogramming the sensor and diagnostic module.
