Mazda has been bombarding us with its CX Series, from the CX-3 up to the big CX-9 crossovers. Well, that is the only thing that Mazda has going well these days for its vehicle lineup. The new 2013 Mazda CX-9 is a seven-passenger crossover, which may come across as an SUV.
For the 2013 Mazda CX-9 crossover, it gets the new Kodo design language as we’ve seen on the 2013 Mazda CX-5 and 2014 Mazda6 sedan. The Kodo design theme gives the front and rear a more sportier styling and stronger presence. From what we can tell in the preliminary photos, the 2013 Mazda CX-9 features a new front bumper that includes LED running lights in the headlamp clusters and bolder lines around the fog lamp housings.
The Mazda CX-9 is a crossover featuring a three-row seating configuration that can be changed around to accommodate more cargo or passenger space. In addition, the interior has been refined with soft-touch and high-quality materials along with an infotainment system featuring the latest audio, navigation and an intuitive speech-recognition systems that based on the Human Machine Interface.
As for safety equipment, it comes standard with advanced active-safety features, such as Forward Obstruction Warning System, Lane Departure Warning System, and High Beam Control System, help drivers recognize and avoid danger.
Power for the 2013 Mazda CX-9 is based on the MZI 3.7-liter V6 engine mated to a six-speed automatic transmission, which ought to provide plenty of power to satisfy the Mazda’s “Zoom-Zoom” driving dynamics. It is also good to know that the V6 engine will include the SKYACTIV technologies to reduce fuel consumption as well.
Although the 2013 Mazda CX-9 carries the Kodo design language, it sheer size almost blurred out the unique design elements compared to the distinctive look on the Mazda CX-5.
The 2013 CX-9 crossover will be unveiled at the 2012 Australian International Motor Show begins October 18, and later be available this year. More details will be revealed next month. (9/18/2012)
The new 2013 Mazda CX-9 crossover gets the same 3.7-liter V6 engine producing 273 hp and 270 lb-ft of torque. From the looks, the 2013 CX-9 gets a more serious fascia featuring a five-point grille with a chrome surround headlamps and revised front bumper to provide a more sharper and modern look. The exterior styling changes also include redesigned rear combination lamps in the new rear bumper, new exhaust trims, and a set of new 20-inch aluminum wheels round out the exterior look.
