The SEMA show is almost here in Las Vegas, Hyundai company is getting ready to roll its SEMA cars. The company has just teamed up with Cosworth to create the the ultimate Genesis Coupe, namely the Hyundai Genesis Racing Series concept (CGRS Concept).
The Cosworth Hyundai Genesis Racing Series concept features the same factory 3.8-liter V6 direct-injection engine, but power has been pumped up to 389 horsepower and 325 pound-feet of torque, which is about 41 horsepower more. Horsepower increase is helped with new Cosworth intake and exhaust, reprogrammed ECU, and improved thermal management. For stopping power, Cosworth also added bigger brakes along with tuned suspension to keep the car on the road.
Like many SEMA cars, power is not the only modification. The interior and exterior get quite a few aesthetic and functional modifications as well. From the exterior, the CGRS Concept gets satin-gloss blue finish, aero front splitter, gunmetal-finish lightweight racing wheels, integrated rear spoiler, and blackout rear diffuser. Inside, the CGRS Concept gets a few upgrades a new steering wheel, shift knob, pedals, shift boot and sports seats.
“The rear-drive Genesis Coupe is simply a great platform from which to build our ultimate Cosworth Genesis Racing Series street model,” said Nicole Armbrustmacher, director of marketing, Cosworth Americas. “The Cosworth Genesis Racing Series Coupe truly demonstrates the purpose-built performance potential of the affordable Genesis Coupe line. We’re proud to partner with Hyundai for this ultimate racing series model.”
