We’ve expected it to happen since its introduction at the 2012 Paris Motor Show about a week ago. Mazda has also released the new 2013 Mazda6 wagon along with the sedan that we’ve seen a few weeks ago. The 2013 Mazda6 wagon received the same kind of the company’s KODO design as the sedan, but only bigger in form.
The 2013 Mazda6 wagon is measured at 2,750mm wheelbase and 4,865mm long, which promises to provide about 522 liters of passenger and cargo space. Although the all-new 2013 Mazda6 wagon is lighter, it has a more rigid chassis featuring front strut and multi-link rear suspension that were tuned for agility and high-speed stability while providing a comfortable ride.
Like the coupe version, the 2013 Mazda6 wagon is powered through a variety of engine options: a 2.0-liter in 143-hp and 162-hp versions and a 189-hp 2.5-liter engine, all in gasoline form; and the Skyactiv-D 2.2 diesel, there are two variants with 147 hp and 173 hp.
Both the new 2013 Mazda6 wagon and sedan will go on sale early next year in the U.S. and Europe, but only the sedan version will be available in the U.S. first. It comes with a 198-hp 2.5-liter Skyactiv G gasoine engine. Hopefully we will see the wagon version available later on, which we think it will likely happen if Mazda wants to compete in the U.S. market.
