In celebration of its 45th anniversary in racing, Mercedes has developed the Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG GT3 “45th Anniversary” limited edition for its racing customers. As we know, the Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG Coupe racer has been developed for the GT3 race series, and already has won three driver and team titles in the the FIA GT1 World Championship, the ADAC GT Masters and the FIA GT3 European Championship racing events. According to the company, the Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG GT3 “45th Anniversary” limited edition is aimed to be a collector’s car.
Only just five units of the Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG GT3 “45th Anniversary” limited edition will be built, and it will be equipped with a 6.3-liter V8 engine. The special edition model will be built with similar design elements as the race car, which features carbon-fibre reinforce plastic material in the gull-wing doors, bonnet, mudguards, boot lid, rear wings, front and rear apron, front splitter and rear diffusor.
The interior of the SLS AMG GT3 “45th ANNIVERSARY” is designed with the race car’s atmosphere. It features a steel roll-over cage, a racing car dashboard and center console sport a matt carbon-fibre finish. In addition, there are six-point seat belts and a steering wheel spider to finish it the racing touch.
Pricing for the Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG GT3 “45th Anniversary” is not cheap. It is priced at €446,250 (US$579,900) including VAT in Germany, the special edition features a number of exterior and interior changes compared to the 49 other racing versions of the SLS AMG.
