2014 Jaguar XFR-S sports sedan let loose with more horsepower

Seems like there is a trend for a sports sedan on every car company’s hit list, and it didn’t spare Jaguar either. The company has just released details of its latest 2014 Jaguar XFR-S sports sedan, and it will be more powerful than ever before. As a matter of fact, this will be the most powerful sedan the company has ever built to its R-S performance cars.

The 2014 Jaguar XFR-S sports sedan will be equipped with the same 5.0-liter supercharged V8 that powers the XKR-S coupe, which translates to 550 hp and 502 lb-ft.  That is about 40 horsepower and 41 pound-foot more than the XFR model, and mating to this supercharged engine is the new adaptive, eight-speed ZF transmission. This setup allows the 2014 Jaguar XFR-S sports sedan to sprint from 0-60 mph in merely 4.4 seconds, which is fast for a sedan. Best of all, it also comes with fuel-saving technology such as stop/start system.

“Sporting character is evident in all Jaguar sedans. In the XFR-S that character has been amplified, the result being a truly engaging car with a combination of technical innovation, assertive design and staggering performance that will satisfy the most demanding of drivers,” said Adrian Hallmark, Global Brand Director of Jaguar.

To match the new found power, the 2014 Jaguar XFR-S sports sedan also gets a sport tuned suspension, near-straight exhaust pipes, and 20-inch six-spoke wheels. In addition, lateral stiffness is also up by 30 percent, and re-calibration of the electronic systems to give better throttle response when in Dynamic Mode.

Of course, exterior modification is also needed to show what the 2014 Jaguar XFR-S sports sedan is made of. It is lavished with a new bodykit, which includes a larger front bumper with larger side intakes and a carbon fiber splitter,  an aero-blade molding behind the front wheels, side side skirts, rear spoiler, and air diffuser in the rear.

As for the interior, 2014 Jaguar XFR-S sports sedan gets carbon-printed leather with contrasting stitching and micro-piping, and a Meridian 825-watt audio system with 18-speakers.

The 2014 Jaguar XFR-S sports sedan will be available in the summer of 2013, and it has a starting price of $99,000 ($15,800 over the XFR), not including a destination charge.
