The founder of the Saleen Mustang brand is back at the helm, and with the returning of Steve Saleen since 13 years he sold the company, the Saleen is making a come back with the release of the new Saleen 351 Mustang.
The new Saleen 351 Mustang is powered by a 351-cubic-inch supercharged V8 engine that pumps out 700 horsepower and 655 pound-feet of torque, which is enough to take on the 650-hp Shelby GT-500 Mustang. Power is transferred to the rear wheels via a six-speed manual transmission feeding to the 3.73 rear axle ratio. For stopping power, the Saleen 351 Mustang has been upgraded to 15-inch disks.
“Since regaining the Saleen brand, I really want to bring it all together with the heritage that Saleen is known for”, said Steve Saleen. “With the current Saleen Mustang model it provides all the right features to bring back and update the S351 model.”
As usual, Saleen Mustangs always come with a styling package to show off its performance. The Saleen 351 Mustang gets carbon fiber front and side splitters, newly designed 20-inch wheels, butterfly hood scoop for the air intake, a new set of “F1-style” tail lamps, and a complete treatment of Saleen 351 badging and graphics along with Saleen paint schemes.
The new Saleen 351 Mustang wasn’t prepared for the 2012 LA Auto Show last weekend, so we didn’t many photos to show to you. We’ll get more details and photos of the new Saleen 351 Mustang in the coming weeks, so stay tuned.
