In celebration of the success of BMW Motorsport’s return to the DTM in 2012 after almost two decades away, the company is introducing the BMW M3 limited edition. The BMW Team Schnitzer, driven by Bruno Spengler, finished in top spot in the race event to win the driver’s title, manufacturer title and team title.
The BMW M3 DTM Champion Edition commemorates BMW’s success in the DTM race series, which only 54 units will be built in February. It carries a sticker price of 99,000 euro ($130,000), which also includes the BMW M Fascination Nordschleife driver training course at the Nürburgring.
The BMW M3 DTM Champion Edition mimics the looks of Spengler’s racing car, which is painted uniquely in a Frozen Black metallic paint featuring blended matte black wheel and contrasting BMW’s M red, white and blue stripes running from front to back to give a racecar look. The race theme continues with BMW M logo to the rear of the front wheel arches and decals in the rear side windows.
In the interior of the BMW M3 DTM Champion Edition, it gets door sill elements that resembles Spengler’s helmet design and his signature and the car’s sequence number can be found on the instrument panel’s carbon fiber trim. The limited edition model also comes with Alcantara steering wheel, handbrake lever embroidered with “M Power” lettering, and extended black Novillo leather trim with features in contrasting Palladium Silver.
