The every man’s muscle car versus the luxury man’s muscle car down the drag strip, and strip away everything, what you got left is pure raw horsepower. Forget the finesse and driving dynamics, when it comes to a drag race, pure power is the ultimate factor here. Evo Magazine has managed to put the new Shelby GT500 Mustang and Mercedes-Benz C63 AMG Coupe together for a showdown in a drag race that will put one of the cars to shame.

How the Mercedes-Benz C63 AMG Coupe ($59,800) and the Ford Shelby GT500 Mustang ($54,995) gained its power are totally different from each. One uses state-of-the-art technology while the later uses the old, true forced induction. With a 5.8-liter supercharged V8 engine, the Shelby GT500 Mustang pumps out about 650 horsepower and 631 lb-ft of torque at 6,250 rpm. That is more power than any average man can handle. For the Mercedes-Benz C63 AMG Coupe with its 6.2-liter naturally aspirated V8 engine, it’s a bit far off, which generates only 445 horsepower and 443 lb-ft of torque. As you can the Mercedes-Benz C63 AMG Coupe is at a disadvantage here, but who cares, we want to see it anyway just for kicks.

You may already know who the winner will be, but lets have some fun by watching the drag race video of the Shelby GT500 Mustang and Mercedes-Benz C63 AMG Coupe below.
