Geely boss Li Shufu said, “We’re ready to seal the deal.” Not so quite yet. This time it is not the Chinese who is pulling out like the Hummer deal with Sichuan Tengzhong Heavy Industrial Machines Co., Ltd. deal. Geely and Ford’s Volvo deflated due to problems at Ford Motor Co., but continues to expect to complete the deal, according to Reuters newspaper.
Li said the situation was changing constantly and the negotiation process was very tough. As he quoted,
“If the deal fails, the problem is not on our side. We have not violated any part of the agreement.” So what is the problem at Ford? Uh, just a wild guess, maybe Geely is not willing to cough up more dough to sweet up the deal?
Zhejiang Geely, the parent of Geely Automobile, had planned to complete the purchase of Volvo for up to $2 billion by mid May, according to a document seen by Reuters.
Would you buy a Chinese Volvo car? And can the Chinese Volvo live up to the high safety standards set by the current Volvo Company? Now the question of loyalty, will Volvo customers remain loyal to its brand? Remember IBM Computers to Lenovo?
