Over the last quarter, the combined sales of the Cheverolet Equinox and GMC Terrain increased by 100 percent and 128 percent in Canada and U.S., respectively. Such demand for both the crossover and smaller SUV made GM to add a third shift in the Oshawa Plant to begin producing the Chevrolet Equinox. And in the CAMI Plant further expanding Body Shop capacity to increase production of the GMC Terrain.
According to Mark Reuss, president of GM North America,
“This plan for CAMI and Oshawa allows us to meet customer demand for hot products while avoiding a potential production over-capacity situation by creatively using our assets and facilities. This innovative approach enables us to ramp up in a timely and cost-effective way and highlights the importance of these plants and communities in our North American plans.”
As you can see, GM is bouncing back with the success of the redesigned, fuel-efficient Chevrolet Equinox and GMC Terrain.
