The 2011 Mercedes-Benz R-Class photo leaked before its debut at the New York Auto Show in a few days. The R-Class had already suffered a lack luster sales from previous years as customers are buying more fuel efficient cars and the lack of interest in station wagon cars. Yet Mercedes-Benz is determined to give another try with the 2011 Mercedes-Benz R-Class.
In the 2011 Mercedes-Benz R-Class, it gets a subtle facelift. New chiseled headlamps with a larger upright grille and a less brawnier hood. The revised lower fascia has Mercedes-Benz’s new quad fog light design. The rear remain relatively the same with mild revised tail lights and bumper.
Changes within the interior were subtle also with a new AMG sport interior, which includes different seats, steering wheel with shift paddles, a new lighting package, and stainless steel pedals.
In the powertrain department, it is expected that the standard V6 engines in both petrol and diesel forms will be used with an optional V8 engine package.
Gone are days of the station wagons. It had failed in 80’s and continue to fail when Dodge (Magnum) brought it back in 2000’s, so why are car manufacturers still trying to bring it back when it had a failed track record? Maybe, the old gizzers just reminiscent too much at the office.
