Volvo is preparing its all-new 2011 S60 sedan for the Belgian Tour Car race. The 2011 Volvo S60 was introduced at the Geneva Motor Show in March, and much of its design remains intact in the new race car.

The racer was tuned up by the Chinese-owned Swedish automaker’s Belgian S60 racing team, and should campaign throughout this year’s season. The Belgian Touring Car Championship is highly-regulated, so there’s very little differences between each racer. All cars participating in the series must use a tubular chassis, the same type of front and rear suspension and aerodynamics.

The Volvo S60 race car features a mid-mounted 3.5-liter V6 engine with 410-horsepower and 412 Nm of torque at 5,500rpm. A six-speed sequential transmission drives the rear-wheels.

The 2011 Volvo S60 race car is set to make its racing debut in the Belgian Touring Car Championship on April 11.The S60 will be competing in two 90-minute heats per race and one 12-hour endurance.
