Ferrari today finally unwrapped its Ferrari 599 GTO to the world. We’ve already seen the spy photos and the leaked options price list that made its way on the Internet a few weeks ago, now, Ferrari might as well unwrap its 599 GTO early than it had scheduled.

The Ferrari 599 GTO is currently the company’s fastest road car ever built. It is based on the 599XX, which is the experimental track car destined to be a street version. Ferrari plans to build the 599 GTO in a limited number for special clients only, so if you want one, you better put in an order quick. That’s if you got the dough, of course.

Enough with the introduction, lets us dwell into the performance realm. The Ferrari 599 GTO is powered by the re-tuned 6.0-liter V12, which came from the Enzo’s engine. The 6.0-liter V12 pumps out 670 horsepower at 8,250 rpm and 457 lb-ft of torque at 6,500 rpm.

Not only the Ferrari 599 GTO is faster than its predecessors but it is also very light at about 3,295 pounds. The power to weigh ratio of the Ferrari 599 GTO is about 4.91 pounds/hp. This enables the Ferrari 599 GTO to sprint from zero to 62 mph in just 3.35 seconds with top speed at around 208 mph.

Serious speed needs serious down force. The Ferrari 599 GTO is fast so a lot of down force is needed to keep the car stabilize at high speed. Ferrari had to design new aerodynamic bodywork, which includes new front splitter, side sills, diffuser and rear spoiler.

To keep the Ferrari 599 GTO stable through curves, new 20-inch spoke wheels roll on 285/30 ZR20 tires in the front and 315/35 ZR20 tires in the rear were fitted all around. By the way, it also has tire pressure and temperature monitoring system to help you pull over. Trust me, you wouldn’t want to drive this expensive car on a flat tire.

Only 599 cars of the Ferrari 599 GTO will be built, and it is not cheap either. Its price tag is hovering at around $460,000, which is at the price range of the Lexus LFA. Want more details? Jump to the press release below.
