McLaren is planning a comprehensive reorganization of its operations along with the changes in management. McLaren is to split between McLaren Automotive and the McLaren Group. The McLaren Automotive branch will be used to produce cars such as the new MP4-12C supercar, and while the McLaren group will be used mainly for the racing team.
The production plant based out of McLaren Production Centre is being split off into its own operation, which shares its grounds with the McLaren Technology Centre next door.
Under the new scheme, the McLaren Automotive and McLaren Group will now report to two separate boards with separate shareholders, but most of the key management personnel will continue to serve on both boards. Well, this scheme is obviously for tax purposes and financial reporting to shareholders. As we know, the McLaren Group is not generating much revenue in racing.
