The urge is on to bring the Corvette Stingray back on the drawing board. The team at GM envisions a Corvette Stingray comeback with new dynamic styling and enhanced technology more than all the iPhone apps put together, well sort of. The Corvette Stingray Concept styling is borrowed from the Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen movie, which has sharp edges and aerodynamic facial like the “Sideswipe” character in the movie.
A welcome feature in the Corvette Stingray Concept is a high performance hybrid drive. You can go fast and save gas at the same time, now that is something you don’t find every day. The appearance of the Corvette Stingray is on full high-tech mode with all modern materials and gadgetry: scissor-style doors (eat that Mercedes SLS AMG), ergnomic seats, and rear-view camera with night vision enhancement. Another feature is the interactive touch, which allows the driver to send his or her driving experience to a friend via an in-car camera system. I don’t really know the benefit or fun of that, we’ll see.
The Corvette Stingray is an iconic car, which represented a nostalgic chapter of the American muscle car era. GM is planning to bring it back, and this time it has an iPod plugin. Stay tune…this is just the beginning of a new chapter.
Every car enthusiast is yearning for the answer to “How fast can the 2011 Corvette Stingray Concept go?” We assume that the 2011 Corvette Stingray will carry the standard 638-hp 6.2 Liter LS9 supercharged V8 of the current Corvette ZR1; but since it is a hybrid system, it will have an electric motor (Voltec) mounted in the rear. This electric motor could add another 270 lb-ft of instant torque at about 120 kW of power, just like the Cadillac ConverJ Concept car. So you should see horsepower can be easily achieved in the 800+ hp range. The current ZR1 can muster from 0 -- 60 mph in 3.4 seconds, so we can assume that the 2011 Corvette Stingray will do better with the four wheel acceleration comes from both the electric motor and combustion engine, perhaps in 2.9 seconds with top speed of about 209 mph.
So how much will it cost? The top of line 2010 Corvette ZR1 tops out at about $125,000, then you can expect the 2011 Corvette Stingray Concept will cost at least about $155,000 with the added electric motor and a new sheet metal design. And this doesn’t factor in the inflated cost due to its demand. So you can see that the 2011 Corvette Stingray Concept can reach to $175,000 or maybe a bit more, depends on the demand. One thing is for sure, all the car enthusiasts will be flocking on the waiting list for this muscle beauty. I would too if I got the dough; maybe, I can refinance my house for this dream car
. Lets hope that GM will bring the prices down a bit with a few trims here and there. So at what price do you expect for this muscle beauty? In the meantime, watch the video below and salivate.
