Audi has confirmed that the Audi R8 Spyder will be available in the U.S. by early 2011. Due to tight emission regulations in the U.S., Audi will only supply the 4.2-liter V8 version instead of the 525-hp R8 Spyder 5.2 V10. Cosmetically, both versions will be the same in the exterior as well as the interior.

In the 4.2-liter V8 R8 Spyder, its engine puts out about 430 horsepower with sprint time from 0-62 mph in 4.9 seconds and top speed of 186 mph. That is plenty of speed for the U.S. road. In comparison with the European version of the Audi Spyder R8 5.2-liter V10, it produces about 525 horsepower. And it can accelerate from 0-62 mph in 4.1 seconds with top speed max out at 195 mph.

The Audi R8 Spyder V8 engine is available with either a six-speed manual gearbox or the R tronic semi-automatic with the quattro all-wheel drive feature as standard. The R8 Spyder 4.2 FSI rides on 18-inch wheels with a standard suspension.

Pricing of the R8 Spyder 4.2 FSI quattro will be around €121,000 (approximately US$150,500) that will be available in German dealerships in the third quarter of 2010. And if you are insterested in the V10 model, it will have a starting price of €156,400.
