It is now officially that we have the hybrid sports car bandwagon. We know for a fact that there is the Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG full electric in development right now, but that is a bit too expensive to be mainstream. So, Mercedes-Benz and AMG have decided for an alternative of a cheaper derivative of the gull-wing SLS coupe. Then comes the Mercedes-Benz SLM, which is reportedly in developing by AMG.

The Mercedes-Benz SLM has gone through many engine iterations, but one found to be best fitted in terms of economical and horsepower-gain is the 350-hp, 3.5-liter twin-turbo V-6 paired with two electric motors positioned in front of the driver. Similar components for the adopted from electric-drive SLS will be used in the SLM model. These include the front axle, battery pack, and the electronics platform.

If produced, the Mercedes-Benz SLM hybrid would be in competition with the Porsche 918 Spyder and BMW Hybrid M8. Only that the Porshe 918 Spyder would be far more expensive and faster the other two cars.
