BMW officially unveiled its all new 2011 BMW X3, which will go live at the Paris Motor Show in late September. Most noticeably in the new appearance is the streamline body style with the less complicated elements found in the previous models of X1 and X5. The result is a clean and refined BMW X3. Noticeably, the more recessive look of the double kidney grille and concave surfaces on the hood. As for the interior of the new 2011 BMW now has added features of a classic four-dial instrument layout and a center console with an 8.8-inch high-resolution screen. The center center console also has a large dial to control the iDrive system.

The 2011 BMW X3 is a 2.5 inches bigger in all directions than the previous model, and with a wheel base of 110.6 inches. The result is more passenger and cargo space. Luggage capacity is said to be around 19 and 56.6 cu.ft., depends the arrangement of the rear seats.

The 2011 BMW X3 will be offered with two inline six-engines in the U.S., and these engines are matted to a new 8-speed automatic transmission. The entry-level BMW X3 xDrive28i comes with 3.0-liter inline-six that produces about 240HP at 6,600 rpm and 230 lb-ft of torque between 2,600 and 3,000 rpm. It can sprint from 0 -60 mph in just 6.7 seconds.

While the U.S. top-end 2011 BMW X3 xDrive35i comes with the turbocharged 3.0-liter straight-six “N55” engine with direct fuel injection and twin-scroll turbo technology Valvetronic. It produces about 300 hp at 5,800 rpm with 300 lb-ft of peak torque. The turbocharged 2011 BMW X3 can sprint from 0 to 60 mph in a mere 5.5 seconds.

As you can expect the European version of the 2011 BMW X3 will be available with two engine options. The BMW xDrive20d is powered by a 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder diesel engine delivering 184 hp and 280.2 lb-ft, which is mated to a standard six-speed manual or an optional eight-speed auto. It can sprint from zero to 100km/h (62mph) in 8.5 seconds, and it has a combined fuel economy of 42 mpg. Not bad for a diesel crossover.

The new 2011 BMW X3 be built at BMW’s Spartanburg plant in South Carolina. It will go on sale by the end of 2010.
