More goodies to the upcoming 2012 Nissan GT-R, which photos and a bit of information have been leaked to the Web. Earlier speculations revealed that the 2012 Nissan GT-R will have horsepower increase and functional cosmetic changes to the interior and exterior as well.
Nissan is keeping the lid tight on the powertrain information of the 2012 GT-R, but from our previous report three months ago, Nissan plans to up the ante with the engine power to over 500 hp in 2012 model in trying to keep up with the Porshe 911 Turbo S (530 hp). We’re 90% sure that the re-tuned 3.8-liter twin-turbo V6 will put out over 500 horsepower and 450 lb-feet of torque.
GTRblog got a hold of some photos of the 2012 Nissan GT-R and a bit of information from an inside source. From the photos, the 2012 Nissan GT-R gets a revised front bumper with new LED driving lights, to improve aerodynamic performance. From the test result sheet, the new front bumper reduces the drag coefficient from 0.272 to 0.268. In addition, a revised rear diffuser helps increase the down force by 10 percent.
Another feature to improve performance includes a new set of forged wheels, which cut down about 6.6 pounds of excessive weight to 26.4 lb/wheel. The wheels are available in two colors of Hyper Blue Black and a Hyper Titanium color.
As always, these revisions come at a price. The base model GT-R is now named as the Pure Edition with all the features remain the same, and it will be priced at 8,694,000 yen ($103,266). And the Premium edition will be priced at 9,450,000 yen ($112,246) in Japan.
