According to David Aviles on the m3post forum, who works at Northwest BMW in Maryland. While attending M Sales Award in Marseille and Miramas, he learned that the new BMW M1 will be in limited edition. Such that there will be just 2,700 units of the BMW M1 available for the masses.

The new BMW M1 will be available in three colors only of Alpine White, Jet Black or Valencia Orange Metallic, and will come only with a manual transmission. The BMW M1 comes with quad-exhaust tips, CSL-style wheels, integrated spoiler from M3 CSL, and M3’s side gills. As for the engine, the BMW M1 will get a turbo 6-cylinder.

If this news is true, this will make a lot of potential BMW M1 customers not very happy. According to Aviles’ post, he also says that the U.S. will get the largest allocation, but no exact number was provided.

Well, for now, enjoy the rendering photo of the BMW 1 Series M Coupe and the BMW 1 Series photos.
