Porshe smaller SUV may enter the crossover arena in 2014. According to Volkswagen AG CEO Martin Winterkorn, there is a smaller version of the Porshe Cayenne in the works to boost sales of its sports car lineup.
Volkswagen bought Porsche almost a year ago, and it is slowly making the transition to take over the operations as the companies are sharing vehicle platforms and technologies. During an interview with German magazine Der Spiegel, Winterkorn said Porsche will get “a new SUV, a smaller brother to the Cayenne which might be named Cajun.”
Volkswagen plans to expand the Porshe’s four-model lineup to double sales to 150,000 cars and SUVs. Besides a small SUV based on the Audi Q5, Porsche could build a new small sports car as well.
Anyways, we are looking forward to see if this new Porshe Cajun crossover is a viable solution for the masses or just another crossover bandwagon jumper. The Porsche Cajun small SUV is expected to be available by the end of 2014 or early 2015.
