Genesis Coupe Won Popular Mechanics 2010 Automotive Excellence Award

Hyundai has something to be proud these days of its Genesis Coupe.  It has earned the Popular Mechanics 2010 Automotive Excellence Award in the  “Fun to Drive”  category.  This is the second time Hyundai won the Popular Automotive Excellence Award; the 2006 Sonata won in the “Safety” category.  See the Genesis Coupe review here.

With the inception of the Genesis Coupe, Hyundai has transformed its image of being a “cheap” car manufacturer into a company that has the potential to produce fun sports cars at an affordable price.  I remember last year while I was out to trade in a clunker for my friend at Cerritos Auto Mall in California and saw in the Hyundai Genesis Coupe for the first time at the Hyundai dealer.  I was amazed at the sleek design of the car, and asked the salesman how much it was; he then replied, “$25,000, no more and no less”.  I just couldn’t believe the price for a 3.8 V6, leather seats, and 6-cd system for such a low price.

Well, congratulations Hyundai!  Please keep prices at bay on the Genesis Coupe.
