@quaxk The Leaf can be programmed to pre-heat/cool at night before you start driving, extending your range. In Portland, there are 12 charging stations available throughout the city. Nike (where I work) has a recharging station so I can even get a quick-charge during the day at work. The Leaf offers an ideal no-emission, low-cost commute in Portland. Moreover, 40% of the grid is powered by clean hydroelectric dams and wind farms, which is fantastic!

@97169144 Besides increasing the cost of the car (panels are not cheap), the steel roof improves the ability of the car to retain heat/cool air inside the cabin, reducing the amount of energy required to maintain a comfortable cabin. An all-glass solar panel style roof would not be as efficient and very expensive to mass produce.

@PathogenVirdae Forty percent of the grid in Oregon comes from clean hydroelectric dams and wind farms, so driving a Leaf in Portland is much cleaner (and cheaper) compared to filling up a guzzler every week with expensive gasoline. Reducing emissions not only helps the global environment, it cleans up the air we breath every day in town. I am sick and tired of breathing that carbon monoxide cloud we all commute in every day. My Leaf will be black. Thank you, Nissan!
