General Motors just announced a recall for 392,409 2009 and 2010 Chevrolet Impalas. The problem is found with the front seatbelt anchor bolts.

Numerous Chevrolet Impalas are known to have front seat belts that were improperly attached to the anchor pretensioner mounted next to the door. In an event of a accident, the seatbelt anchor is likely to separate, thus cannot properly secure the passenger in place.

So far, there have been no reported accidental injuries. Chevrolet Impala owners of the affected vehicles will be notified of the recall by mail on October 25th, 2010. GM is preparing to repair this problem at no charge to the customers, of course. The repair will be involving an inspection and replacing of suspected faulty anchor bolts.
