Subaru releases Forester S-Edition Concept at Sydney International Motor Show

Subaru just unveiled the Forester S-Edition at the 2010 Australian International Motor Show in Sydney. The Forester S-Edition is still in a concept stage that will lead the way for the new 2011 Forester version to come.

The Subaru Forester S-Edition concept is developed on the current turbocharged Forester XT. The Forester S-Edition generates an extra 32 horsepower and 20 lb-ft of torque over the current Forester XT, which is at 227 hp and 236 lb-ft. This gives the Forester S-Edition concept with the final output of 259 horsepwer in the 2.5-liter boxer engine.

Other mechanical features for the Foreseter S-Edition include: a paddle shifter for 5-speed automatic transmission, upgraded sports suspension and Variable Torque Distribution (VTD) all-wheel drive. To round out the appearance, the Subara Forester S-Edition receives new styling and comfort features such as 17-inch STI alloy wheels, Alcantara interior trim and aluminum pedals.

Subaru Australia’s Managing Director said, “We’re delighted and honoured that Fuji Heavy Industries (FHI) have chosen Sydney for the worldwide unveil of this Forester concept. It points towards an exciting development in our Forester range early next year.”

The Subaru Forester is currently Australia’s top selling compact sports utility vehicle, and its only major rival is the Toyota RAV4, which is trailing near behind.
