Chrysler today announced its new 35 vehicles on exhibit at this year’s SEMA show, but the superstar of the bunch is probably be the new 2011 Dodge Challenger SRT8 392. The new Challenger SRT8 392 will help Chrysler in pace with the Mustang and Camaro.
Chrysler engineers have installed the new 6.4-liter V8 to the 2011 Dodge Challenger SRT8 392. The new engine produces 470 horsepower and 470 lb-ft of torque, and still manages to deliver 15-20 percent greater gas mileage than the previous 6.1-liter V8 engine found in the 2010 Challenger SRT8. The massive V8 engine uses variable valve timing and cylinder deactivation to keep fuel consumption at a minimal.
The 2011 Challenger SRT8 392 also uses a revised suspension system with tighter shocks, a more rapidly steering ratio and even more negative camber, which should help the heavy muscle car handle the corners with a bit of extra finesse. And in the front end, you will find a distinctive face spoiler that assists channeling air to the car’s radiator and offer extra downforce at higher speeds as well.
Chrysler states it will build only 1,492 units of the Challenger SRT8 392, and that the cars will be available at the beginning of December of this year.
