Chrysler has been busy at the manufacturing plant by cranking out one new car after another. Its latest edition is the 2011 Dodge Avenger that is available with a Pentastar V6 engine or 2.4-liter four cylinder engine.
Like with other Chrysler’s latest cars, very minor changes have been made to the Avenger’s exterior. But we do notice a revised front fascia and LED tail lamps are added to the rear end, nothing spectacular here.
And like with other Chrysler’s latest cars, the Avenger gets an all-new interior with much improvements than previous model. Chrysler has put a lot of emphasis on quieter cabins for its latest cars by adding extensive sound deadening material to the car’s inner body.
Chrysler cars had been plaque with gas guzzling engines that led to its downfall. Chrysler is going to change that image by providing better powertrain choices. Customers can now choose a revised 2.4-liter inline-four that is mated to a new six-speed automatic transmission. Or its new 3.6-liter Pentastar V6 producing 283 horsepower and 260 pound-feet of torque.
Additional, Chrysler has extensively re-tuned the Avenger’s suspension system to be more aggressive. The car’s height has been reduced a bit to provide a low center of gravity. The front and rear tracks have been increased by an inch to accommodate wider tires. Chrysler even go further as to revise the steering to provide a more precise control and poise.
All and all, Chrysler claims that these changes certainly made the 2011 Dodge Avenger to handle and perform much better than previous model. It seems like Chrysler picked the right areas to revise, but we will have to see for ourselves when it comes out.
The 2011 Dodge Avenger will arrive at dealerships by December, just in time for Christmas.
