Want to be like Ken Block in rally racing, and turn your ordinary Ford Fiesta into a racing machine? Well, you can now. Ford is offering a 162-hp R2 rally kit for its Ford Fiesta model to the general public.
The 168-hp R2 rally kit comes with a five-speed sequential transmission, Reiger adjustable dampers, Eibach springs, ventilated disc brakes with four-piston calipers and a steel roll cage. But best of all, the kit comes with new internal engines parts such pistons, camshafts, injectors, air filter, and many other components to boost the Ford Fiesta’s 1.6-liter four-cylinder engine to 162 reliable horsepower and 134 lb-ft of torque. And that is about 48 hp and 22 lb-ft over the stock engine.
If you don’t need the extra horsepower, Ford Racing also offers a Stage 1 rally kit that only includes performance upgrades, dampers, a limited-slip differential and roll cage.
Customers who bought a new Ford Fiesta with the R2 rally kit will be eligible to compete in the new Fiesta Sport Trophy Championship division of RallyCar’s Rally America National Championship 2WD class. Class winners will be qualified to compete in the Fiesta Sport Trophy International Shootout in Great Britain. And if you win this international rally race, you are on your way to stardom. Just kidding about the stardom part, but we do know for sure that you will get a one-year residency at M-Sport to work with the BP Ford World Rally team.
So, do you think you got what it takes to become a rally race car driver?
