Audi plans to release 2012 Audi A8 Hybrid with a four-cylinder engine base

Audi will offer the 2012 Audi A8 in hybrid form by early next year. The hybrid transformation as part of Audi’s plan to meet tougher CAFE’s emmissions standards.

The 2012 Audi A8 Hybrid is said to have a four-cylinder gasoline engine that is coupled with an electric motor. And there will likely be a 2012 Audi A8 Hybrid front-wheel drive six-cylinder diesel version offer as well. Compared to the current 372 horsepower 4.2-liter V8 engine, these two new hybrid engines should provide equivalent power and driving driving experience as of the non-hybrid V8 engine.

“Downsizing shouldn’t limit driving characteristics,” said Eric Felber, a spokesman for Audi. “It’s important to offer a certain degree of performance in this segment.” Felber said.

Hybrid is the new trend in the automotive world currently, and Audi got a slow start as its European counterparts like Mercedes-Benz and BMW are already way ahead of the game. But all and all, the hybrid trend is still mateuring, and it is not too late for Audi.
