A while ago, the Audi Quattro concept was unveiled at the Paris Motor Show, and we’re not sure that it will ever destine for production. But now, it seems likely that we may get to see again in production form, according to the Audi management. “I want to do it,” Volkswagen Group CEO Martin Winterkorn said to Motor Trend.

The Audi Quattro concept is a well engineered car with state of the art technologies to provide both performance and yet with an environmental attitude in mind. So far, Audi had invested three years of development into the Audi Quattro concept project. According to Motor Trend, Audi and the Volkswagen Group’s top executives are excited to place it into production form soon.

But there are different visions for the Audi Quattro amongst VW and Audi. Volkswagen CEO Martin Winterkorn reportedly would like to see a mass production of about 35,000 units annually to keep pricing to a reasonable level. But Audi CEO Rupert Stadler, on the other hand, would like to see the Quattro as a unique super sports car like the Ferrari or Lamborghini.

Since Audi is now a subdivision of Volkswagen, it looks like VW excutives will get the Audi Quattro car mass produced. Winterkorn says Audi already has many niche models, including the A5/S5/RS 5 range, and this new car would clash, even though it is only a two-seater.

The Audi Quattro concept is aimed to have a curb weight of about 2900 pounds. It will be equipped a turbocharged five-cylinder engine producing more than 400 horsepower.

Everything is ready in order for the production of the Audi Quattro, but it is still in debate of whether to be mass produced or low volume production.
