October 31st, 2010 was the expiration date for the agreement between General Motors and its dealerships. Pontiac is officially closed its door for good as of yesterday after 84 years in business. Pontiac was formed in 1926 with its down in the 1950 that almost killed it, and had its up when GM engineers took the Tempest and put a powerful V8 engine in it. This started a new generation of sports cars called the GTO in 1960.
Honda just announced the recalling of 470,000 vehicles in the U.S. due to the failing of the master brake cylinder. Honda is using the same supplier as Toyota for the master brake cylinder part, which Toyota has been recalling 1.66 million of its vehicles worldwide a few days ago due to breakage of the seal in the master brake cylinder.
Mazda is facing with meeting the emissions standards, and it is not giving up its rotary engine development just yet. It vowed to never give up on its longtime investment of the Wankel engine. “We will never give up,” says Mitsuo Hitomi, general manager of Mazda’s powertrain division when speaking about the Mazda’s future of investment decision towards the rotary engine.
