BMW Concept ActiveE in Detroit Auto Show

BMW will debut of the BMW Concept ActiveE and BMW Z4 sDrive35is.  Also, included in North American is the unveiling of the twin-turbocharged inline-6 engine version of the BMW 740i and 740Li Sedans and the six-cylinder turbocharged version of the BMW 535i Gran Turismo.

What is  ActiveE? BMW Concept ActiveE is the latest electric vehicle project by BMW.  The BMW Concept ActiveE will be vehicles like the all-electric MINI E and BMW 1 Series. In the BMW 1 Series, the motor is located in the rear axle, and delivers 170 hp with maximum torque of 184 lb-ft. It can accelerate the from 0-60 mph in approx. 8.5 seconds.

The electric drive system draws its energy from new, advanced lithium-ion battery pack. It enables a range of approximately 100 miles in everyday use. The charging period required for the lithium-ion batteries is very short. On the European power grid, the battery pack can be fully charged in just three hours at a wall box with a current of 50 ampere at 230/240 volts. In North America, using a high-current (32 ampere continuous) residential wall box, the charge time is about 4.5 hours.

Volvo 2011 C30 T5 and C30 T5 R-Design

The new Volvo C30 T5 and C30 T5 R-Design with dramatic changes in the 2011 models.  The whole entire front clip has been redesigned to give a more sportier look,  which including the soft nose, front fenders, grille, headlights and lower front spoiler. This gives the car a new appearance with a distinctive personality .   The air intake has also grown in size and resembles the intake in the XC60. The grille has a new pattern used exclusively on both C30 variants.  Both cars are equipped with a standard turbocharged 227 horsepower inline 5-cylinder engine and a 6-speed manual transmission, which comes from the Ford Focus ST’s six-speed gearbox.

All new 2010 Hyundai Tucson

Hyundai is introducing the all new 2010 Tucson with starting price tag of $18,995 and all the way up to the well equipped GLS at $24,345.  The all new 2010 Tucson will be available this month in six trims.  If you are in the market for a mini SUV, the Tucson is a good buy with its 100,000 mile factory warranty and pleasing look appeal.  Not only the 2010 Hyundai Tucson looks better compare to Honda CR-V or Toyota RAV, it is almost cost less with good fuel economy.

GM’s Ecotec 2.4L gets an award

2010 Ecotec 2.4L I-4 VVT DI (LAF)GM’s Ecotec 2.4L I-4 has been awarded Ward’s Auto World magazine’s 2010 “10 Best Engines” for North America. If you have been following GM cars lately, you can see that most of GM’s fuel economy cars are equipped with an Ecotec 2.4L engine.  The range of GM’s cars from small compact cars to SUV that are equipped with this Ecotec 2.4L engine.  What is so special about this engine?  Well, for starter, it is a very fuel efficient engine that can get up to 32 mgp highway on such SUV as the GM Equinox.

Capstone CMT-380-1

Capstone Turbine unleashes the beasty CMT-380 prototype with a jet engine. It combines the former with a diesel / biodiesel-powered microturbine (a jet engine) with an electric motor. The 380 is an extraordinary supercar with design work from Electronic Arts’ creative director Richard Hilleman. The 380 reaches 60 miles an hour in 3.9 seconds (faster than a Porsche 911 Turbo). and travels 80 miles from a full charge before the turbine starts generating power.

2011 Hyundai Sonata Sedan

Hyundai introduced the all-new 2011 Sonata at the Los Angeles Auto Show just a few days ago. This is the latest version of the popular midsize sedan for North American with Hyundai’s “Fluidic Sculpture” design language and an all four-cylinder engine lineup to the U.S. market.  Production begins at Hyundai Motor Manufacturing Alabama in December with retail sales beginning in January.

Chevrolet cheap remote starter for your car

Too cold and lazy to go to work in morning because it is too damn cold to go out and start your car?  Well, Chevrolet has a cheap remote car starter just for the winter.  When I say cheap, I meant that it costs cheaper from the like of Toyota, Honda, Ford or the after market ones.  Last time I checked, it was about $375 for an after market remote starter with installation. At $300 buckaroos, you can start your car in the warm comfort of your house before heading out into the chilly winter.

Infiniti is set to launch in spring of 2010 for the 2011 Infiniti M.  It will be offered in M37 and M56 models at Infiniti retailers nationwide in spring 2010. The sportier look M37 features a refined 3.7-liter V6 engine with increased power and fuel economy.
