The State of Colorado is giving the Chevrolet Volt a $13,500 tax break from its $39,000 price tag, which equates to about $25,500. Not to mention the fact that the government is planning to increase the tax credit from $7,500 to $10,000 on alternative-energy vehicles in the near future.

The 2012 Chevrolet Volt is now available nationwide at $39,995, including an $850 destination charge before federal and state rebates and incentives. In an effort to make the 2012 Chevrolet Volt a bit more attractive, General Motors is reducing  the 2012 Volt to about $1,005 less than the 2011 model.

After many testings and revisions, it seems like the Chevy Volt cannot reach the 40 mile-per-gallon mark when it debuted back in 2007. When GM released information on the Volt back in 2007, which stated that the Volt has a range of about 40 miles on the battery alone and 640 miles on a full 12 gallons of gas. In addition, the Volt would be able to run on gasoline or ethanol E85.

Edmunds.com was running its fishing pole on some of Chevrolet dealerships to get a feel for the prices of the new 2011 Chevrolet Volt, which will be due this fall. And it found out that the markup price for new 2011 Chevrolet Volt was out of this world. The highest markup price was about $20,000. No lies, check out the quote from an email below:

General Motors today officially revealed the 2011 Chevrolet Volt with a base price tag of $41,000, including a $720 destination charge. But after federal and state tax incentives, the 2011 Chevrolet Volt will be around $33,500. Still, that is about $8,000 more than its competitor, the all-electric drive Nissan LEAF. Or you can test out the electric Volt for a few years through its leasing program of $350 per month for a 36-month lease program.
