The 2012 Chevrolet Volt is now available nationwide at $39,995, including an $850 destination charge before federal and state rebates and incentives. In an effort to make the 2012 Chevrolet Volt a bit more attractive, General Motors is reducing the 2012 Volt to about $1,005 less than the 2011 model.

Chevy Volt may be overestimating its 40-mile range
After many testings and revisions, it seems like the Chevy Volt cannot reach the 40 mile-per-gallon mark when it debuted back in 2007. When GM released information on the Volt back in 2007, which stated that the Volt has a range of about 40 miles on the battery alone and 640 miles on a full 12 gallons of gas. General Motors today officially revealed the 2011 Chevrolet Volt with a base price tag of $41,000, including a $720 destination charge. But after federal and state tax incentives, the 2011 Chevrolet Volt will be around $33,500. Still, that is about $8,000 more than its competitor, the all-electric drive Nissan LEAF.
