Honda is delaying the next generation of the Civic design, which it will not arrive until 2011. Most of its delays were due to tougher fuel economy and emissions regulations. Most automakers and Honda stick to a five-year product cycle for their highest-selling model, and the generation Civic is way past due since its debut in September of 2005. There have been numerous reports regarding the premature brake wear on the new Honda Accords and Acura TSXs, and still Honda does not admit to the defect.  As an owner of the 2008 Honda Accord myself, I had experienced the premature rear brake wear problem. After 17,000 miles, I noticed my brakes were squealing. When I took my car to a mechanic for a check up, he found out that the whole rear brakes were worn to metal. How could this be, I had only 17,000 miles on my car? It cost me $150 to change the rear brakes and left with a feeling of disgust in my stomach that Honda doesn’t cover it under its warranty; Honda claims that it is normal wear and tear. Rear brakes wear out at 17,000 miles is not normal, it should last up to at least 50,000 miles on an average.

Since the unveiling of its CR-Z hybrid car roughly last month, Honda had only expected to sell it at about 1,000 vehicles per month. But that sales target got shattered by 10 times by the sales of the Honda CR-Z since a month ago. The company said the total orders for Honda CR-Z had exceeded 10,000 vehicles. Honda has nearly reached its domestic annual sales goal of 12,000 in just under a short period.

Honda Motor co., Ltd. will begin sales of a limited number of the 2010 Civic Type R Euro, a premium sports model of the Honda Civic. Only 2,010 units will be shipped from Europe to Japan for sale. When will it come to the States? The 2010 Honda Civic Type R models are specially tuned to highlight the base model’s driving performance to provide a sporty racing feeling. Two models of 2010 Honda Civic TypeR are now available in Japan.

A new home solar hydrogen station that is not only power your car but also your home. Honda has begun testing its operation of a next generation solar hydrogen station prototype at the Los Angeles Center of Honda R&D Americas. The new solar hydrogen is intended for use as a home refueling appliance that will be capable of an overnight refill of fuel cell electric vehicles. The solar hydrogen station will be compact enough that it will fit into a standard two-car garage, which can produce about 0.5kg of hydrogen in about 8 hours. That equates to about 10,000 miles per year for daily commuting.
